چکیده
Abstract Objectives We compared the risk of mortality and reintervention after common arterial trunk (CAT) repair for different surgical techniques, in particular reconstruction right ventricle outflow tract with left atrial appendage (LAA) without a monocusp. Methods The study population comprised 125 patients repaired CAT who were followed-up at our institution between 2000 2018. Statistical analysis included Cox proportional hazard models. Results Median follow-up was 10.6 years. 10-year survival rate 88.2% (95% confidence interval [CI], 80.6-92.4) poorest outcome type IV (64.3%; 95% CI, 36.8-82.3; P Conclusions For CAT, LAA technique associated comparable greater freedom from than use valved conduit.

15 صفحه اولA rare variant of common arterial trunk.
A 13 day old baby was admitted to hospital with multiple abnormalities, increasing cyanosis, and cardiac failure. Cardiac catheterisation was performed on the day of admission and he died shortly after the procedure. A rare variant of common arterial trunk, in which the pulmonary arteries arose directly from the underside of the aortic arch, was found at necropsy.
متن کاملCommon arterial trunk: current implementation of the primary and staged repair strategies.
OBJECTIVES In this study, we report our experience on the primary and staged surgical approaches for common arterial trunk (CAT) repair. METHODS Between August 2003 and February 2015, 16 consecutive patients underwent CAT repair in our institution. Two different approaches have been followed: group 'primary repair' (PR) consists of patients suitable for straightforward CAT repair, who underwe...
متن کاملImpact of the surgical technique on pulmonary morbidity after esophagectomy.
BACKGROUND Pulmonary complications occur frequently after esophagectomy. Although multifactorial, these complications could be influenced by surgical technique. We sought to compare the respiratory complications of patients undergoing esophagectomy through different approaches, and identify technical risk factors. METHODS We conducted a retrospective analysis of consecutive esophagectomies pe...

Editorial comment Common arterial trunk repair without extracardiac conduit: technically feasible, potentially advantageous Nemoto and collaborators report a small series of 10 infants, who underwent primary complete repair of common arterial trunk without an extracardiac conduit [1]. One patient died early and, after a median follow-up of 54 months, only one patient required re-operation for l...
